1. Autonomy?
Ownership is ‘freedom’ & ‘independence’.
Ownership is about ‘peace’ & ‘autonomy’.
Before peace, ownership is about autonomy.
If ‘peace’ is the way of ‘feelings’, ‘autonomy’ is the way of actions.
.
Are You The Main Character?
Autonomy is what makes you the main character. Else, you’re an NPC. Really, you are.
Do you have free will—can you reprogram yourself?
Do you have freedom?
If not, aren’t you an NPC?
Do you have a reaction button that anyone can easily press?
Do others make your life choices?
Are you following the traditions, dogmas, or authorities?
If so, how are you the main character?
.
Creativity
Autonomy is the prerequisite to infinite creativity.1A big part of intrigue, the true purpose of life.
Independence allows for unrestricted, boundless ideas;
Freedom allows for their unrestricted, boundless realizations.
With autonomy, we can problem-solve towards infinity.
.
Predictable Life
“Most people live predictable lives. They’re born, go to school, get a job, marriage, raise children…die.”
Is that good/bad? Depends on what you want.
…Didn’t you feel bad reading this, though? Why?
Why was there a conflict inside your head? Wasn’t it, “good”? Don’t you want a predictable life—job, family, etc.? What about this statement triggered that conflict?
.
Want Autonomy
Autonomy is an embedded desire.
The desire for autonomy is hidden behind the desire for peace, then intrigue(=entertainment). But it’s there.
That conflict, before, was a conflict between desires.
Predictability implies peace; Predictability implies slavery.
Look for yourself: most people are enslaved by the environment, other people, and themselves.
We actually know that. On the surface, we want peace.2This is valid. But we don’t want slavery, just as much.
It’s about peace, intrigue, AND autonomy.
That’s what ownership is about.
.
2. Voluntary vs. Involuntary
Orders
Human nature rejects orders.
The worst way to get someone to do something is by telling them to do it; The epitome of “creativity limitation” is a top-down order.
(Even when it comes to wisdom, they have to come from within.)
That’s because orders create conflicts. People don’t do what they’re told because that’s not what they want; the act of “being told” turns something “involuntary”.
This is the problem with hierarchies.
.
Hierarchies
A “hierarchical relationship” means: “one person can tell another what to do.” That’s it.
Now, that wouldn’t matter if the other person would already do the thing. Hierarchies are to make a person do something when he/she “doesn’t” want to.
That’s conflict: something against one’s desire(s).
Hierarchical relationships inevitably create conflict.
Let’s take a step further:
Furthermore: relationships of force inevitably create conflict.
When you’re stuck with someone, you have conflict. People are mainly harmless to strangers. Most conflicts happen with people you know. Siblings, who are usually separated, can tolerate each other.
Besides emotional struggles, hierarchies limit productivity, too.
Conflicting desires lead to paralysis.
I’m not saying that all hierarchies are net-negative. In group efforts, there needs to be a person in charge. Or else, there’s too much chaos.
Hierarchies, per se, aren’t problematic—Unforced hierarchies3E.i. Companies, sports teams, etc.are mostly conflict-less. The problem is “involuntary”.
.
Voluntary Everything
“Voluntary” is a word for ownership.
Voluntary beliefs, voluntary associations, voluntary actions…
That’s what ownership is about.
